The Morning Routine Makeover: Cultivating Positivity and Resilience

“What non-sense, this guy is a fraud,” Suraj said to himself, looking at the email where one of his colleagues hijacked an initiative of his overnight. He got frustrated and thought, ‘It is high time I change my job. Enough is enough’, he told himself.

Upset with the email, He closed his mailbox and switched to his personal device to check emails to see the interview status.

There was no news about the interview, and a suspicion creeped in about whether this job consultant was genuine or not. There is possibly another fraud happening to him.

“Why does nothing work for me? I am putting in all my efforts, but I never get any success,” Suraj said to himself while closing the flap of the laptop.

It is early morning, and Suraj, being an early riser, comes out to do some personal work till his family wakes up. But in the first few minutes, his mood went off, and he started scanning news, social media, etc. and spending all his early morning energy on social media. He was not liking it, but that’s the only thing giving him enough distraction to remain sane.

Now it is time for his 4-year-old daughter to wake up. She is an early riser, too.

His daughter came running out of the bedroom, and looking directly at him, he jumped on him to give him an early morning tight hug and sleep on his lap for some time. But as she jumped on Suraj, a big glass of water that Suraj had kept to drink early in the morning spilled over the laptop, and Suraj panicked. He pushed his daughter to save the laptop and scolded her for being careless.

Somehow, Suraj could save the laptop, but her daughter went running, crying. Suraj’s frustration grew further, and now he was guilty too.

Hello Readers, I know too depressing a story to read, but isn’t it a reality in many mornings for us? Let’s imagine an alternative start.

Suraj woke up in the morning, and being an early riser, he chose to ensure he spent his first hour infusing positive energy within.

He filled a big glass with water and sat there to reflect on his past day. He realized that he had given some good ideas the previous day at work, so he felt good about his contribution.

He also recalled that he had given an interview and felt good about how he answered a few trick questions.

He drank the glass of water and went out with his headphones on to listen to a book that he had been listening to on Audible for the past couple of days.

After a half-hour walk, he came back to prepare his favorite tea while writing his learning from the audio book on a handmade paper notebook.

By the time he finished writing, his daughter came running to him and jumped to hug him, and it is a practice that makes Suraj and his daughter’s day perfect.

How do you see the story turning out now?

I am sure his problems with a colleague trying to take credit for the idea or his recruitment agency being non-responsive will not go away with this new start, but he will look at those problems from a new perspective and deal with them as a smarter version of him would.

How do you want to start your day?
