Two years and several months have passed, and there is no news of returning to normal. A social, springlike, and talkative personality is feeling suffocated in the four walls of the house. Tried everything to entertain himself but nothing could keep him up in the zone of motivation, high energy, and positivity. Covid and followed by remote working decisions by the organization has put him in a very difficult phase in his life.
He went so crazy remaining quiet all day long that at times he used to utter a few words loudly to ensure he could recognize his voice. An uncomfortable cloud was engulfing him and he started to realize that his personality is altering.
He decided to take up a course, though expensive but would help him escape from home and go to a wonderful world of excellence. A place that he wished would have his alma mater but due to his busy schedule and high course fees, he could never dare to apply. This gave him the perfect opportunity not only to escape from the four walls but also to step into the world of excellence.
But as with all happy things, this one was short-lived too. His course was completed in 10 months and He once again started getting chills of going back to the same state again.
During his course at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, along with all the great learning from world-class professors, he got to meet highly talented classmates and information about an on-premise Toastmasters club.
IIMB Orators Toastmasters Club is a club for alumni of the Indian Institute of Management who devote a few hours every week to hone their skills, sharpen their saw and build a community of positive people. He immediately enrolled and the whole world started looking different. Learning from stalwarts from various industry gathering every Saturday Morning at 7:30 AM to learn, receive feedback, and share their experiences by utilizing the best communication skills they have gathered over time as well as through the guided pathways of Toastmasters. He felt his life is sorted.
During this process, he could rummage through his wish box which was hardly explored and found he had wished to set up a beautiful garden, keep some pets and finish a few dozen of books that were kept half-read. He brought some discipline to his life to give required slots to various activities and started bringing the entire universe to his four walls.
Now the same four walls help him think, spend time with the newly set up rooftop garden, take care of the pets, read unfinished books as well as get a dose of knowledge, motivation, and social life every week through IIMB Orators Toastmasters Club.
Life at times traps us with our choices, comforts, and mindset. After a few days, we feel suffocated and try to escape. Sometimes in the hurry of getting out of the current state, we l land up in a worse state. But if we open our eyes, minds, and options, we will be able to find a window to excellence to escape.
