Book That Blew My Mind

I’m not sure who recommended me, but once, while ordering a few other books from Amazon, this one was also ordered. Like every new book, I read the first few pages after receiving it, but unlike other books, this one topped my list of books, and I could not put it down without finishing it.

I enjoy reading business books and finding life lessons from business problems. It was surprising that this book was doing exactly that. Professor Clayton Christensen’s deep understanding of life as a religious person and his deep understanding of business work make it a beautiful read.

It starts with “Just because you have feathers,” which explains the importance of “how to think” instead of “what to think” and beautifully explains how mankind developed airplanes when they turned their attention to the concept of lift (cause) from building stronger wings (correlation).

Finding happiness in your career The first section makes you think about what really motivates you through Frederick Herzberg’s motivation theory and then how important it is to keep our options open as far as our career goals are concerned. The key takeaway from this section for me was that life is uncertain, hence we make many assumptions. Out of all the assumptions, there must be one assumption that must go right for us to reach our goal. Finding that assumption and making it failproof is the key to succeeding in a career and business.

Finding happiness in your relationship is the next section. Here he talks about the importance of understanding: What job are you being hired for? I also understand that you will be routinely tempted to invest your resources elsewhere, and your family and friends rarely shout the loudest to demand your attention.

In the later sections, the part that really stuck in my head was 100 percent easier than 98 percent of the time. Which emphasized the importance of holding onto your values and principles no matter what.

How to measure your life is a masterpiece, and I highly recommend it to all who want to make their lives better.
